The Celebration of Athletes presented by AstraZeneca (COA) is a celebration and recognition of the Athletes' accomplishments. It is a time for goosebumps, pomp and circumstance, and a magnificent display of light and sound - all in honor of the Athletes who make the 2007 Senior Games an important part of their lives.
This year, the COA takes place on Saturday, June 30 at Freedom Hall at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the program starts at 7:00 p.m. The evening will include the lighting of the Games cauldron, a very special keynote speaker, and the official "Passing of the Flag" to the 2009 Summer National Senior Games host, San Francisco.
The headlining entertainment for the evening will be one of the most important voices in country music history - Ronnie Milsap. Even at an early age, Milsap found inspiration from a variety of music - Beethoven, Mozart, hardcore country and rhythm-and-blues. Eventually, an adult Milsap forged his myriad influences into a cosmopolitan style of country music that helped revolutionalize Nashville. His track record includes 40 #1 hits, Seven Grammy Awards, and Eight Country Music Association Awards. |
