Ray
Hoyt
Executive Director/President
Ray's career began at Tucson Parks and Recreation Department in
1982. As manager of the City Wide Adult Sports Programs and City
Wide Senior Programs, Ray channeled his great love of sports into
creating the Tucson Local Senior Games and developing it into a
major senior sports event with over 3,000 participants.
Based on this successful experience, Ray organized a local group
of community and business leaders to submit a bid for Tucson to
host the 1997 National Senior Games Senior Olympics event. Once
receiving the bid, Ray was appointed the Executive Director for
the organizing committee, which hosted over 10,000 athletes and
15,000 guests during a two-week period. The event created a standard
of excellence for the National Senior Games Organization still being
followed today.
Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, official host site for 1999
Senior Olympics, recognized Ray's talent and invited him to come
on board in 1997 to lead the event management team for the 1999
Senior Games. Before long, Disney asked Ray to head the entire event
management team for the Sports Complex, which hosts over 200 separate
events annually. Events include: 40 AAU National Championships,
the USTA National Clay Court Championships, Disney's Indy 200, Walt
Disney World Marathon, Odyssey of the Mind World Championships,
POP Warner Super Bowl Championships, and more. In this leadership
role, Ray focused on strengthening the newly created events team
by developing operational processes and event management tools necessary
to streamline the communication, reporting and tracking of individual
events.
In 2002, Ray joined the Central Florida YMCA as District Executive
for Camps and Retreats. Through his experienced leadership, many positive
changes occurred in the Youth Camp Boards and the retreats business
for the association. There was great success in raising funds for
the youth camp capital campaign.

Grassroot Development, LLC (Sports and Events) was created in March
2003 to facilitate this broad expertise of non-profit, government
and corporate success into a consultancy group. Since inception, Grassroot
